Children will find it fascinating to hear that dogs trained by Canine Partners can put their bowls in the sink or tidy away their toys. Canine Partners transforms the lives of people living with disabilities by training assistance dogs to carefully match an applicant’s needs. Dogs can help with everyday tasks such as opening and closing doors, picking up dropped items and helping people get undressed.
For 2017, Canine Partners is sending volunteer speakers to schools, to give children and young people a greater understanding of living with a disability and to raise awareness of the importance of assistance dogs. Canine Partners ask for a minimum donation towards costs associated with providing a speaker. Classroom resources are also available. For more information, visit caninepartners.org.uk.
